| The Laurel County History Museum & Genealogy Center is now in the process of recruiting volunteers to help organize what will go into the history museum & genealogy center. Everyone is welcome, we only request that you have a true love for the preservation of genealogy and Laurel County history. If you have a particular area of expertise that you feel will be of help with this project please contact us. |
If you have any photos, documents, or artifacts that you would like to donate to the museum, please feel free to contact someone on our contact list. If you have photos that you don't want to donate, please consider allowing us to copy them. You could scan them and e-mail them to us or we could pay to have them copied. Any Laurel County photos are of particular interest, such as family photos or scenic views of buildings, homes, businesses, and events; it doesn't matter how insignificant the photo appears to be, if it is in Laurel County or is of Laurel County citizens we would like to preserve them. |
Do you have your family tree? If it's complete or just partially researched, it doesn't matter. Please consider allowing us to copy any family genealogy you have, so that there is that added assurance that it will be around for future generations to research. |
We are also looking for any old donated or items for loan from Laurel County based businesses; this could be an old sign from a family business, an old calendar or a letterhead. |
Have you inherited family heirlooms, but don't have anywhere to put them? You can loan them to the museum for display and you would still have complete ownership of the items.

There will be numerous committees that will focus on various areas of interest. Each topic will have an individual committee. Those committees will research the history for that subject or area and go out collecting donated items or oral histories. Each topic has a large background and needs many volunteers that are willing to work toward making our collection the best in this part of the state.
